Office Computers Get the Once Over

Recently, the office computers were looked at and tweaked for optimum performance.  Will Garrett, a Marine who is also a computer geek, worked on my office computer and determined that an upgrade in the RAM (radom access memory) was necessary.  Shelly's office computer was also looked over.  All the office computer's, including Pastor Steve's, were networked to the copy machine which also acts as the office printer.  The only thing left to do is to purchase a laptop for Pastor Steve's office.

Let me put in a plug for Will.  He's a real nice Christian young man who loves the Marines, but has a passion for computer technology.  He has offered to help us with our church computers as his ministry to us, but I would also recommend him to you if you have any computer problems at home; his price is very reasonable.   Use the "Contact Us" tab, I'll put you in touch with him.

Crisis Intervention Seminar Offered

Picture
Several of us from CPBC and The Bridge were able to attend the Crisis Intervention Seminar offered by the Command Chaplain office at MCAS, Cherry Point.  The date of the one day seminar was February 4th; it started at 11 AM and lasted until 3 PM.  About 50-60 were in attendance, including base chaplains, RP's, and civilian pastors.  The group also had the opportunity to meet and ask questions of Major General Flock, the Commanding General of the 2D Marine Aircraft Wing.

The session started with a very fine lunch spread of sandwiches, chips, meatballs, rolls, desserts and a variety of drinks (the cost of $5 was covered by a very generous church member--thank you!).  The training wasn't bad either!  It was very beneficial and I think we all got a good overview of what it takes to help folks out who are in crisis, either by natural occurrances or personal crisis.

The atmosphere was informal (as informal as military protocol allows) and cooperative.  The recognition of the civilian pastor's ministry efforts to military families was lauded and appreciated by Chaplain Brown, Commander of Base Chaplain Services (probably not his official title).  I, for one, am looking forward to our continued relationship for the sake of God's ministry to the civilian and military population of Havelock.
