Havelock Cherry Point Ministerial Association (HCPMA)
Some readers may be aware that our church is an active and contributing member of the Havelock Cherry Point Ministerial Association (HCPMA) of Havelock. There are currently 21 member churches and 4 Chaplains from the 2nd MAW and MCAS Chapel that make up the Association. Pastor Steve Epperson is the representative from our church and participates in the regularly scheduled monthly meetings. Since our church is very active in the association, you will need to know what's happening. We will try to keep you informed.
Essentially, the purpose of the Association is to do for the Community of Havelock what a single church cannot. Two main ministries of HCPMA are:
**Provide food for families in need via the Living Waters Ministry Outreach (Food Pantry), Suite #20, East Plaza Professional Center, Main Street, Havelock.
**Provide emergency financial assistance for transportation needs (although this t , and for families having trouble paying for their heating/cooling bills. This is accomplished via a periodic funding from the Carteret-Craven Electric Co-operative. Pastor Charles Dudley, New Beginnings Missionary Church, is the administrator for this ministry.
The HCPMA also sponsors the annual community-wide Thanksgiving service and this year they helped with the community Halloween event this year by donating $250 for the "treats".
Our Procedures for the Heating and Cooling Assistance Ministry
Cherry Point Baptist Church and other participating Havelock churches, have a direct impact on our surrounding community through this ministry. When folks come into the office of Cherry Point Baptist Church, we ascertain the client's need, explain the assistance available and the procedures to make it happen. Then, in the case of heating and cooling needs, we call in the pledge to Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative. We make it a habit to pray with them before they leave and perhaps, if warranted, invite them to church services.
New HCPMA Website
At the HCPMA meeting held on March 11, the group voted to continue developing a website that I introduced at the meeting. I asked for input and received a few suggestions. If you want to view the website (and perhaps offer your suggestions and/or comments) please visit http://www.hcpma.weebly.com.
