This allows all ages groups, from preschoolers through adults, to use content planned around a common theme and scripture. Families can then continue their discipleship at home through discussion based on similar lessons learned that week. For further information and upcoming themes, please visit LifeWay online.
Building a R.E.A.L Sunday School

Ministry
At the August 4, 2010 church conference, Sunday School Director, Arland Bell, made a motion to the church that they adopt the PowerUP to a R.E.A.L. Sunday School ministry. A brochure containing most of the information of this piece was distributed at the same time. The motion carried.
INTRODUCTION
Although many churches today have different options for Bible Study and Discipleship Training, Sunday School remains a vital factor in Christian knowledge and development. Sunday School is a time tested and traditional organization that has an excellent record for providing biblical training from indoctrination to advanced studies for all age groups.
So why is Cherry Point Baptist Church looking to "change" our Sunday School Ministry? The simple answer is that if we are serious about evangelism and discipleship and recognize that the Sunday School Ministry as a tool for that end, then it stands to reason that we need to make the ministry as effective as we are able. Nothing is "changed" except the attitude and implementation of established evangelistic and discipleship principles. Call it enhanced.

BUILDING THE KINGDOM OF GOD
There is another reason for introducing the R.E.A.L. Sunday School Ministry: If statistics are correct, some 85% of our churches are plateaued or in a declining mode. Historically, Baptist churches have used the Sunday School as a primary ministry strategy for church growth. These principles have not changed, but sadly, churches have stopped using them, and churches have ceased to grow. The good news is that these principles still work; so the challenge for churches like ours, is to recapture these sound principles and put them back to work using culturally relevant methods. It's time to re-build the Sunday School!
WHAT IS R.E.A.L. SUNDAY SCHOOL?
Looking at the diagram to the right, note the rectangles in the middle of the structure. These rectangles are the rooms of the structure; it's where everyone meets and where the Sunday School thrives. Training for Sunday School and class leaders will expand our knowledge in these areas: R = Relationships E = Evangelism A = Assimilation L = Life-Changing Bible Study |
